Bio
Erik Nelson, MD, is a psychiatrist at the University of Cincinnati Neuroscience Institute’s Mood Disorders Center and an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and conducts research in major depression.
Dr. Nelson has previously been a member of the UC Department of Psychiatry Clinical Effectiveness Committee and their Committee of Appointments and Promotions, as well as the UC College of Medicine’s Institutional Review Board. He has also previously been a member of the UC College of Medicine’s Year II Medical Student Curriculum Committee, the Promotions Board, and the Department of Psychiatry Medical Student Education Committee.
Dr. Nelson’s specific research interests include the relationship of HPA dysregulation and phenomenology of depression, the psychopharmacology of depression and atypical depression.
He was awarded the American Psychiatric Association’s Nancy C.A. Roesky, M.D., Certificate of Recognition for Excellence in Medical Student Education in 2006; selected as a “Best Doctor in America” by BestDoctors.com in 2005; recognized as one of “Cincinnati’s Top Doctors” by Cincinnati Magazine in 2005; and awarded the NARSAD Young Investigator Award in 2003.
