There is a lot of fear associated with concussions in sports, yet there are ways to help keep athletes safe from concussion. Join us for a FREE half-day of training, hands-on exercises, and a sneak preview of some of the hottest innovations being developed by researchers and engineers at the University of Cincinnati.

8-9:45 a.m. Fear and Concussions*

- Ohio Return to Play
- Cedric Peerman, Special Teams Captain of the Bengals, on a player’s perspective of going through the concussion protocol, and vision training for injury prevention
9:45-10 a.m. Break – Snacks
10 a.m.-12 p.m. Interactive Training
- Diagnosis on the Sideline – Using the 3-question item and flashcard concussion assessment tools
- Balance Checks – Assessing balance on the sideline the way UC Health sports medicine physicians do it in the training room
- Rehabilitation Techniques – Dynavision light board training, exercises to improve vision and balance, ocular muscles training
- Post-Injury Management – Things you can do while healing (other than resting in a dark room)
- Vision Training Techniques – See the hit coming so that you can be less vulnerable and absorb the hit better
- Prevention Training – Neck strengthening exercises, proper tackling techniques, USA Football Heads Up tackling and blocking demonstrations
