New Tool for Medication-Resistant Epilepsy
The Epilepsy Center at the UC Neuroscience Institute is now offering a device the government recently approved to ease the crippling seizures of epilepsy, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. The Responsive Neuro Stimulator puts electrodes on the surface of a patient’s brain over the focus of a seizure, then connects the electrodes to a tiny computer implanted in the skull. A biotech company, Naurex, is gathering data that suggests it may have a drug that works faster and better than anything on the market, reports Luke Timmerman of Forbes.
