Daniel Kanter, MD

Daniel Kanter, MD, a Cincinnati native, joined the University of Cincinnati Neuroscience Institute and the University of Cincinnati Stroke Team in 1997.  He has since taken an active role in the care of patients with complex cerebrovascular problems both as inpatients and outpatients.  As a member of the UC Stroke Team he has seen patients having acute strokes at every major hospital in the Cincinnati area.  In 2012, he shifted to the field of Neurocritical Care by joining the staff of the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) at University of Cincinnati Medical Center and became the medical director of the unit in 2013.

Prior to coming to UC Health Dr. Kanter completed his Neurology residency training at the Harvard-Longwood Neurological Training Program in 1991.  He subsequently completed a fellowship in Critical Care Neurology/Neurosurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital.  He was the founding medical director of the Neurology/Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in 1993, and retained in that position for four years.
