Mario Zuccarello, MD

Mario Zuccarello, MD, serves as the co-director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center at the UC Neuroscience Institute.  He is also the chairman and Frank H. Mayfield Professor of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.  Dr. Zuccarello has been a neurosurgeon for the UC Neuroscience Institute since 1998.  He has been the director for the Division of Clinical Trials at UC and a member of the University of Cincinnati Stroke Team for over 18 years.  Dr. Zuccarello has been the chief of Neurosurgery at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Cincinnati for more than 20 years, and was the director for the Division of Cerebrovascular Surgery at the University of Cincinnati from 2000-2010.  Prior to his career in Cincinnati, Dr. Zuccarello served as an instructor of Neurosurgery at the University of Padova, and the Chief of Neurology and Neurosurgery Services at the Military Hospital in Padova, Italy.   

Throughout his extensive medical career Dr. Zuccarello has been honored as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and as a NATO Fellow.  He is also a vital member of the Cincinnati community serving the United Way of Greater Cincinnati Tocqueville Society.
