Todd Abruzzo, MD, has been an interventional neuroradiologist for the Mayfield Clinic, University of Cincinnati Medical Center (UCMC) and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) since 2004. Dr. Abruzzo serves as chief of Pediatric Neurointerventional Surgery at CCHMC as well as a key member of the Retinoblastoma Program, the Hemangioma and Vascular Malformations Team and the Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangectasia Center.  At UCMC, he is one of two neurointerventional surgeons on the University of Cincinnati Stroke Team.  Dr. Abruzzo is a faculty member of the Colleges of Medicine and Engineering at the University of Cincinnati as an associate professor for the Departments of Neurosurgery, Radiology, Pediatrics and Biomedical Engineering.

Dr. Abruzzo is an internationally recognized expert in the diagnosis and endovascular treatment of neurovascular disorders in adults and children.  His clinical practice emphasizes the treatment of acute ischemic stroke, intracranial aneurysms, steno-occlusive disorders of the cerebral circulation (arteries and veins), tumors of the head and neck and vascular malformations of the head, neck, brain and spine.

In collaboration with other members of UCMC, Dr. Abruzzo co-directs a national course for neurointerventional specialists. He has been invited to speak and teach at numerous national and international conferences on stroke, cerebrovascular diseases and pediatric neurointervention. He has also led national efforts to establish and publish standards and guidelines for neurointerventional surgery, and his contributions to clinical and basic science research have advanced stroke care for patients everywhere.

Dr. Abruzzo has been instrumental in the development of revolutionary technologies for the treatment of patients with intracranial aneurysms, ischemic stroke, cerebral vascular malformations and tumors of the head and neck. Through his work, such technologies have become available to countless patients in the Cincinnati area.
